Ramayana 3 - Sita abduction
Ramayana is an epic poem written by Sage Valmiki, which narrates the journey of virtue to destroy the vice. The term 'Ramayana', literally means the journey of Rama in search of human values. The characters and incidents in Ramayana teach people about the invaluable ideals of love and wisdom.
This part narrates the story of the numerous adventures undertaken by Rama, his brother Lakshmana, as well his wife Sita in the forests. The abduction of Sita by King Ravana- the demon-king of Lanka sets the stage for the epic battle between Rama and Ravana. In his efforts to find Sita, Rama and Lakshmana are aided by monkey king Sugreeva and his minister Hanuman- the god of wind. Finally, Hanuman finds Sita in the Ashoka Vatika in the city of Lanka.
The everlasting values taught by Lord Rama in this epic tale have been celebrated through the centuries, and continues to have an impact on Indian art and culture.
