Ramayana 2 - The Vanvas
Ramayana is an epic poem written by Sage Valmiki, which narrates the journey of virtue to destroy the vice. The term 'Ramayana', literally means the journey of Rama in search of human values. The characters and incidents in Ramayana teach people about the invaluable ideals of love and wisdom.
This part narrates the story of the numerous adventures undertaken by Rama, his brother Lakshmana, as well his wife Sita in the forests. After getting settled in the forests of Panchavati, their troubles starts when the Demon King Ravana’s sister Suphanakha approaches Rama for marriage. All hell breaks lose when Rama declines her offer and a war ensues. This results in the abduction of Sita by Ravana, which sets the stage for the epic battle of Ramayana.
The everlasting values taught by Lord Rama in this epic tale have been celebrated through the centuries, and continues to have an impact on Indian art and culture.
