Maharana Pratap - Rajput King of Mewar
Maharana Pratap was a great warrior and patriot during Mughal Emperor Akbar’s reign in 16th century India. After the capture of Chittor ruled by his father Udai Singh, Rana Pratap took a vow to conquer Mewar along with Chittorgarh. A great many battles were fought between Rana Pratap and Akbar’s armies including the famous battle of Haldighati. Despite facing great losses in these wars, Rana Pratap’s bravery and determination made Akbar give up his obsession of capturing the Maharana.
Rana Pratap gave up all the comforts and led a simple life to follow his sacred mission. He even rejected many tempting offers from Akbar. His patience and strong will inspired many of his nobles and subjects. And they largely contributed in the war against the Mughals. His innovative war tactics helped him conquer Mewar. Thus, Maharana Pratap’s brave personality continues to inspire generations of Indians.
