Guru Nanak Dev - Founder of Sikhism
Guru Nanak Dev is the founder of the Sikh religion. He was the first of the ten Gurus of the Sikhs. Through Sikhism, he wanted to unify the Hindus and Muslims and form a universal religion of union and kindness. He preached that people are not Hindu or Muslim but the children of only one God. He was affected by the plight of the people and wanted to tell them about the real message of God. To spread his message, he visited many places in India and Asia.
Guru Nanak taught people that true salvation could be achieved only by true devotion to God and honest conduct. It is because of these thoughts that Sikhism is spread far and wide across the world today. His life and teachings still remains relevant and continues to inspire us.
