Birth of Lord Krishna
The story of Lord Krishna’s birth is a very interesting and meaningful episode in Indian mythology. Krishna’s mother Devaki was the sister of Kansa, the evil king of Mathura. But it was foretold that Kansa would be killed by Devaki’s eight son. So, fearing his death, Kansa put Devaki and her husband Vasudeva in prison.
Devaki gave birth to all her seven children in the prison and Kansa killed all of them. But when Krishna was born, his father Vasudeva managed to save him with divine assistance. Krishna, being the incarnation of Lord Vishnu cast a spell of divine magic and helped Vasudeva go out of the prison. Vasudeva went to Gokul and left Krishna at the house of Nanda, his friend.
Krishna grew up in Gokul and performed several godly acts that established good over the evil.
