Lord Ganesha is the God of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. Lord Ganesha is also believed to be the destroyer of arrogance, selfishness and pride. He is the representation of the material universe in all its various aspects. That is why, He is widely worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. He is also among the five prime Hindu deities, besides the Trimurti and Goddess Durga.
Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and is depicted with the facial features of an elephant- a curved trunk, tusk, big ears, and a pot-bellied body of a human being.
Lord Ganesha rides a mouse and holds an axe and a noose in His hands to remove the obstacles from the path of His followers. These distinctive attributes clearly establishes Him as one of the widely accepted Hindu deities across the world.
